Hey There Delilah

Here's a trivia - the song "Hey there Delilah" by Plain White T's was actually inspired by a runner, Delilah Dicrescenzo. Tom Higgenson, the lead singer of the band fell hard when he first met her - and was inspired to write the song. The song topped the charts in 2007 around the time when she was sidelined from the USA Track and Field Championships, due to an injury, so it sort of made up for her absence in the competition.

I read that she trains alone also - that is an inspiration to me. This is taken form an interview in Runner's World:

Who do you train with?
DD: I do about 95 percent of my running alone. That can be scary because you don’t have someone else to gauge yourself against, and you worry that your competitors might be doing more. But I’ve also been able to do some amazing solo workouts. My coach, Isaya Okwiya, is a Kenyan who believes in Kenyan type training. My hardest workouts are excruciating. Then on my recovery days, I’m just crawling, which is a good thing, because I definitely need the recovery. I’m not a high mileage runner, but I’ve been up into the 70s recently. In college I never ran more than mid-50s, and I was never a very good cross country runner. I was usually about fifth on the Columbia team.

Just look at that pretty face. No prizes for guessing how Tom Higgenson was inspired!

Hey there Delilah
What's it like in New York City?
I'm a thousand miles away
But girl, tonight you look so pretty
Yes you do
Times Square can't shine as bright as you
I swear it's true

Hey there Delilah
Don't you worry about the distance
I'm right there if you get lonely
Give this song another listen
Close your eyes
Listen to my voice, it's my disguise
I'm by your side

Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
What you do to me

Hey there Delilah
I know times are getting hard
But just believe me, girl
Someday I'll pay the bills with this guitar
We'll have it good
We'll have the life we knew we would
My word is good

Hey there Delilah
I've got so much left to say
If every simple song I wrote to you
Would take your breath away
I'd write it all
Even more in love with me you'd fall
We'd have it all

Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me

A thousand miles seems pretty far
But they've got planes and trains and cars
I'd walk to you if I had no other way
Our friends would all make fun of us
and we'll just laugh along because we know
That none of them have felt this way
Delilah I can promise you
That by the time we get through
The world will never ever be the same
And you're to blame

Hey there Delilah
You be good and don't you miss me
Two more years and you'll be done with school
And I'll be making history like I do
You'll know it's all because of you
We can do whatever we want to
Hey there Delilah here's to you
This one's for you

Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
What you do to me.

After I read this and was listening to the song and realised that the second verse could have been written for a runner.
